This was the first time Frelich played at Hickory Hills with the Knights Junior Varsity team, taking on Walled Lake Central. He stepped up to the elevated tee box on the 175-yard hole and decided to use a seven iron.

“That’s my most dependable club,” said Frelich. “I know I hit it straight to the green and saw it roll in. I was in shock. I couldn’t believe it.”

His playing partner, Brandon Skiles, was fired up as they walked up to the green “That was amazing,” said Skiles.

Frelich’s coach, Tom Chandler, was elated. “He freaked out. This was the first one he even saw. He was really excited.”

Frelich started golfing when he was in eighth grade. According to Chandler, Frelich is a rising star and one of the best junior varsity golfers he’s had the pleasure of coaching.
