2017 POPS concert promises fun for the entire family
This revue showcases MHS varsity show choirs The Choraleers and Center Stage, featuring a live band and professional choreography, all under the direction of Maryann Lambrecht. The show features large scale song and dance costumed production numbers from eight Broadway musicals.
POPS 2017 is an upbeat and positive themed show that opens with the lively Broadway favorite "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" from "Spamalot" and the show continues to take the audience on a comedic journey with vaudeville flavor including "Make 'em Laugh" from the timeless classic “Singin’ In The Rain.”
POPS 2017 will also showcase music from the Carole King musical “1650 Broadway” that will take you back to the 50's with "Yackety Yack, Poison Ivy” and “Splish Splash."
The uplifting show weaves in a love theme featuring famous show tunes "Oh What a Beautiful Morning” from “Oklahoma!” and Irving Berlin’s “Blue Skies” and “What about Love" from “The Color Purple.”
The finale is a joyous song and dance set exploring the adventure of youth and life starting off with "Let the River Run" and ending with "Rio" in a sensational carnival style celebration complete with feathers, headdresses and lots of sparkle! In addition to the Broadway numbers, POPS 2017 also features pop tunes, jazz classics, contemporary acapella and barbershop. There really is something for everyone!
