Walled Lake, Oakland schools hosting food feud fundraiser

SPECIAL TO THE SPINAL COLUMN

It’s a food feud!

The Oakland Schools Education Foundation, in partnership with the Walled Lake Consolidated School District, will hold a restaurant fundraiser for all three Walled Lake high schools beginning March 26 and going through March 29.

In a twist on the classic dining for dollars fundraiser, all three schools will be competing against one another with up to two restaurants competing on their behalf. Participating restaurants have agreed to donate 10 percent of all receipts from the day of the fundraiser. The school with the most money raised wins and will be presented with the coveted food feud trophy.

Participating restaurants include On the Dunes competing for Walled Lake Central on March 26 (11 a.m. to 11 p.m.), Wixom Station competing for Walled Lake Western on March 27 (11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.), Kickstand Brewing Company competing for Walled Lake Northern on March 27 (5 p.m. to 12 a.m.), C.A.Y.A. Smokehouse competing for Walled Lake Central on March 28 (4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.), Willson’s Pub’n Grill competing for Walled Lake Northern on March 28 (12 p.m. to 12 a.m.), and El Mariachi Mexican Restaurant competing for Walled Lake Western on March 29 (11 a.m. to 10 p.m.)

Eighty percent of proceeds from the fundraisers will be split amongst the three schools and Oakland Schools Education Foundation to be used for programs like Teacher of the Year.
