Police: Man found with fatal gunshot wound in 7-Eleven parking lot
Around 11:12 a.m. on Thursday, February 9 deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the parking lot of 7-Eleven in the 100 block of E. Commerce Road in Commerce Township on reports of a subject with a gunshot wound to his head.
According to reports, deputies spoke to a witness who stated that she saw the man sitting in a truck with a gunshot wound to the head and called 911. The man was found with a rifle between his legs.
Surveillance video from 7-Eleven revealed that the man, a 59-year-old Waterford Township man, had pulled into the lot at approximately 9:40 a.m.
The victim’s son told police that the truck belonged to his father, and continued to say that his father had been involved in a verbal argument with a co-worker the night before. The victim’s employer advised police that he had not shown up for work Wednesday or Thursday, and his wife had been asked to check his welfare.
The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office assumed custody of the deceased, and an autopsy has been scheduled. Detectives will continue the investigation.
