Sixth Annual Walled Lake Ice Fishing Derby Draws Fishermen
“Fish on” was a common phrase used this past Saturday, February 22 as area fisherman of all ages reeled in their prize fish. It was a day for kids to put away their game consoles and for friends and families to spend quality time together.
The Sixth Annual Walled Lake Ice Fishing Derby arrived with one simple theme: go out and fish your local lake! The tournament started at sunrise and ended at 6:30 p.m.
Youth fisherman David Emery said, “The best part of fishing today was having fun with my cousins.” Austin and Dustin Emery enjoyed fishing and catching their first Pike.
Carter reeled in the littlest fish, a perch 3 ½ inches. The adult first place for largest Pike at 34 ¼ inches went to Bill Dulek who caught this prize-winning fish on Oxbow lake.
