Milford’s Smoke Street Restaurant To Open Next Week
From the owners of Highland House, Tomato Brothers, Gus’ Carryout and several other eateries comes Smoke Street, a casual dining restaurant with a wide variety of smoked and barbequed menu items.
“The menu will be mostly smoked food,” owner, Elia Nicholas said. “The ribs will be smoked as well as the chicken, brisket and pulled pork. There will also be an assortment of salads on the menu, as well as pulled pork and brisket sandwiches.”
Other menu items include 10” gourmet pizzas, fried chicken, steak, fish, and sides like cauli’ greens, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, and Mexican corn.
The restaurant will also offer a wide variety of beverage items, including an assortment of Michigan craft beers and a large bourbon display.
Nicholas said the environment will revolve around rustic barbeque “just like you would see down south.”
“It will be a very casual, tavern type place,” Nicholas said. “Barbeque is hot right now, it’s all over the country. If everything comes out the way we’ve been doing it so far, we’ll be considered one of the top barbeques in the area.”
Nicholas says there will not be any similarities to his other eateries, like the popular Highland House.
“There won’t be any similarities. Instead of Greek salads and breadsticks there will be coleslaw and cornbread,” he said.
After six months of planning and construction, Smoke Street is set to open in approximately one week.
“We chose downtown Milford as the location to open this new restaurant because out of all the downtowns around, Milford is probably the most quaint and charming out of all of them,” Nicholas said.
